The Law Students' Legal Advice Program (LSLAP) is a non-profit run by law students at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. We provide free legal advice and representation to clients in the Lower Mainland who would otherwise be unable to afford legal assistance.
If you are seeking legal assistance, please fill out our intake request form or call us at (604) 822-5791. Please note that we receive a high volume of calls each day and our phone operators will do their best to connect with you as soon as possible.

We operate most of our clinics in-person, with some remote options. There are appointment times during evenings and weekends if needed. Please note that LSLAP cannot give legal advice over the telephone. Our regular office hours are Monday to Friday from 10AM - 4PM. We are closed on all public holidays.

Our History and Organization
The Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP) was established in 1969 by students at the UBC Faculty of Law. Originally operating as a summer clinic called Vancouver Inner-City Services, this was later expanded to include a small number of clinics operating year-round. In 1978, the program was incorporated as a non-profit, the Greater Vancouver Law Students’ Legal Advice Society (GVLSAS), to provide free legal advice and representation for those who cannot afford it.

Today, LSLAP is formally governed by the GVLSAS Board, comprised of lawyers and professionals in the community. The day-to-day operations are run by law students at the UBC Peter A. Allard School of Law. Our six-person student executive leads a dedicated group of student volunteers and paid summer clinicians. All legal work done by students is overseen by the program's three supervising lawyers.
