Animal Law Clinic
The Animal Law Pro-Bono Clinic run the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP) is the first of its kind in Canada which provides legal assistance to low-income people for matters concerning animals and animals’ interests. Our clinicians can assist clients with a variety of matters, such as “dangerous dog” cases, pet custody, tenancy disputes over pets, and human rights discrimination claims over being denied tenancy, services, or accommodations due to a client requiring a service/guide companion pet. However, there are some matters that are outside of our mandate, such as veterinary malpractice, defamation cases related to animals or aiding breeders unless it serves to prevent animal cruelty (in a case-by-case basis).
